Hey there, fellow freelancers! 🌟
So, you're looking for free connects on Upwork, huh? Well, long story short—you won't find them waiting for you with open arms. But don't worry! There are still a couple of ways you might snag some for free 😉
That being said, I feel the need to remind you that this stuff changes like the wind. So in order to stay in the loop, make sure to double-check this post's date and subscribe to my YouTube for any updates, as that'll likely be where I'll share them first (that and my Instagram).
And hey, if you try something and it doesn't work, drop me a note. If things are out of date, you have my word: I'll circle back with brand-new info ASAP! That being said - let's jump right in!

Now...what's the deal with Upwork's free connects?
First things first, you gotta remember: whether connects are free or paid, you should ALWAYS use them wisely. That means only sending proposals to active jobs that you KNOW are the right fit for you (and you for them), and in my opinion, staying away from boosts and other nonsense.
Need help with your proposals? I've got a playlist stacked with helpful tips—check it out here!
To start with some good news, Upwork currently gives us 10 free connects a month - and yes, unused connects now roll over to the next month! Personally, I've racked up quite a few myself since I haven't been sending many proposals lately.
One other major great news for newbies - once you join Upwork, the first time you buy connects or subscribe to Freelancer Plus (I don't really recommend that option though), they'll give you a one-time bonus of 50 free connects.
Now, once you start working on the platform, you'll want to work towards their three core badges - Rising Talent, Top Rated, and Top Rated Plus. These not only help you get more trust from clients on the platform, but they can also gift you up to 90 free connects in total.
There's also a mystery angle where you might win some extra connects if an "established client" calls you in for an interview. They don't spill the tea on who qualifies as an "established client," but hey - it's a fun bonus if it happens!
Lastly, according to them, every now and then, you might stumble across promo codes in your notifications or emails for an extra connects boost. Again, while I don't recommend you rely too heavily on these, you should see them as fun rewards for your achievements.
And I know this is not what you're here for - but you can always buy additional connects if the freebies aren’t cutting it - starting at $1.50 for 10 connects.
